Sillanwali Tehsil in northern Sargodha District has a character that is immediately obvious to any visitor: the smell of freshly cut wood and the sound of chisels on sheesham timber. The town has been a furniture and woodcraft center for generations, and the main bazaar's furniture market is one of the most visited wholesale-retail mixed markets for wooden goods in the Sargodha Division. Buyers come from as far as Lahore, Faisalabad, and Rawalpindi for quality handmade bedroom sets, carved doors, and traditional charpoy frames at prices that are substantially lower than finished furniture shops in bigger cities.

The agricultural base of the tehsil is built on wheat, rice, and fodder crops irrigated through the canal network. Many households combine farming income with workshop income — the son works the land while the father or uncle runs the carpentry shop. This dual-income model gives Sillanwali families more economic resilience than purely farming-dependent tehsils. The timber market on the road leading into the industrial area supplies raw sheesham, kikar, and tali wood to workshops of all sizes.

For administrative needs, the Tehsil Complex on Main Road houses the AC office and Tehsildar's office side by side. Citizens from surrounding villages come here for domicile certificates, Fard issuance, and mutation (Intiqal) processing. The Small Industries field office, also in the industrial area, provides guidance for artisans who want to register their workshop as a formal business unit with SMEDA or access PSIC loans for equipment upgrades.

The Rural Health Center in Sillanwali town is the primary healthcare point for the tehsil, with an emergency room open around the clock. For secondary care including surgery and specialist consultation, patients travel to the nearest THQ or to the DHQ Hospital in Sargodha City, about 60 kilometres south on the main road. Mobile phone coverage is good in the town area but patchy in some of the more remote chaks.
