Bhera is the oldest tehsil in Sargodha District by historical record, and locals are rightly proud of that fact. The walled city of Bhera — the purana sheher — is a maze of narrow galis (lanes) lined with centuries-old havelis whose carved wooden balconies overhang the street by just enough to block the midday sun. The Shahi Mosque near the heart of the old city is one of the finest examples of Mughal-era brick architecture in the Punjab, and the Thathi Gate (city entrance arch) remains a recognizable landmark. If you are visiting for the first time, enter from the main bazaar side near the vegetable market and let any local resident guide you — every Bherani has a favourite route through the old city.

Beyond the heritage, Bhera has quietly become one of the better-known education hubs in the Sargodha Division. Private academies along Academy Road offer intensive coaching for MDCAT (medical college entry test), ECAT (engineering university entry test), and CSS/PMS civil service examinations. Students from Sargodha, Khushab, and Mianwali districts come here specifically for pre-entry test preparation because the academies here have an established track record of producing successful candidates. The Government Degree College on College Road offers regular FA/FSc and BA/BSc programs for local students.

The M-2 Motorway Bhera Interchange is located about 3 kilometres from the town centre and provides direct highway access. From Lahore, take Exit 10 (Bhera) — the approach road from the interchange to the old city is well-maintained and clearly signposted. For administrative services, the Tehsil Complex on Main Road houses the AC office, Tehsildar, and the Sub-Registrar. The Arazi Record Center in the Revenue Complex handles land record requests. Heritage zone properties (especially havelis in the walled city) sometimes have old-format Latha (hand-drawn field maps) instead of computerized records — bring the original Latha or a certified copy along with your CNIC when applying for Fard for such properties.

The Jhelum River forms part of the tehsil's eastern boundary, and the riverine belt supports small-scale fishery and sand/gravel extraction. Dairy farming is common in the villages, and milk collection vehicles from FrieslandCampina (Milkpak) and Nestle operate routes through the tehsil. The THQ Hospital on Hospital Road serves as the primary government healthcare facility.
